Since sanctions against violent settlers were revoked by President Trump this January, violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has reached crisis levels. Settler attacks on Palestinian civilians have skyrocketed by 30%. This escalating violence undermines US security interests and jeopardizes any path to peace.

Executive Order 14115 allowed the administration to impose sanctions on individuals undermining peace, security, and stability in the West Bank. While it was in effect, the Biden administration used this Executive Order numerous times to sanction some of the most violent extremist settlers, outposts and organizations, and to cut off some of the funding sources for their movement, including crowdfunding websites.

The SANCTIONS in the West Bank Act would restore this crucial tool to hold extremists accountable for violence, forced displacement, and destruction of property, while establishing a clear framework for oversight and the lifting of sanctions when conditions are met.

I urge you to cosponsor the SANCTIONS in the West Bank Act and demonstrate the United States’ commitment to peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank.
